            Sahar TV Azeri channel now 24-7
TEHRAN – Sahar TV, an IRIB international TV channel available on satellite, has extended its broadcasting to a non-stop service for Azeri viewers.The extension was announced by IRIB Director Mohammad Sarafraz on Sunday during a ceremony, which was attended by IRIB’s World Service Director Mohammad Akhgari and a number of cultural officials.
Sahar TV covers Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus, some parts of Northern Africa, Oceania, and all the countries in the subcontinent of India and East Asia.
5th Intl. Urban Film Festival kicks off in Tehran
TEHRAN – The 5th International Urban Film Festival opened at Tehran’s Mellat Cinema Complex on Sunday.
This year, the festival is launching a new section entitled “Now Middle East” to bring movies from the region into the spotlight.
Organized by the Art and Cultural Organization of the Tehran Municipality, the festival will run until June 2.
Athens to host conference on Rumi
TEHRAN – A number of Iranian and Greek literati will come together at a conference in Athens on June 8 to discuss works by the Persian mystic and poet Molana Jalal al-Din Rumi (1207-1273).
The meeting is part of the program, which has been organized with the help of the Iranian Cultural Center in Athens.
Director Masud Jafari Jozani selected for Sri Lankan festival jury
TEHRAN -- Iranian filmmaker Masud Jafari Jozani has been selected for the jury of the SAARC Film Festival, which will be held from May 26 to 31 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Jafari Jozani along with other members of the jury selected from the region will judge the main competition section of the festival.
Jafari Jozani’s comedy drama “Iranburger” has been top Iran box office over the past month.
